Co-Curricular Activities

At MELC, the co-curricular activities foster artistic creativity and stimulate aptitude for reasoning and problem-solving in our students.

Sports

Sports offer a fun learning approach for preschool children, allowing them to burn off excess energy, follow directions and rules, have patience, and work as a team. We emphasis the student’s participation in sports as it improves cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being while imparting the values of sportsmanship.

Physical education

We offer a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle. Active engagement in physical activities helps children develop endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility.

Taekwondo

Our trained Taekwondo instructor inculcates discipline and teaches children how to focus their energy and attention. Emphasizes overall physical fitness through various movements and exercises, enhancing motor skills, balance, and coordination. It also increases confidence.

Arts & Crafts

In our Art Studio, children work with all their ingenuity to create unique and original figures, which enhances their creativity and imagination. Creativity teaches them to express their emotions and show the real world as they perceive it. To stimulate their creativity and imagination, they use a variety of tools and mediums to express their thoughts.

Clay work

Working with clay encourages children to think creatively, explore their imagination, and express themselves artistically. Pinching, rolling, and shaping clay improve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Music

Children naturally love music! Whether it is soft and soothing or a lively tune, children feel it both physically and emotionally. Our music class encourages students to freely express themselves through melodies and movements. Children enjoy singing in a choir and recognize repeated melodic and rhythmic patterns to follow.

Story Telling

Storytelling sessions increase children’s willingness to communicate thoughts and feelings. Their active participation in the library encourages them to use imagination and creativity. It also enhances their verbal proficiency.

Pretend /Role Play

Our Play Area features children breaking through the boundaries of reality by putting themselves in the shoes of the character they are portraying, which allows them to experience the practical world while creating situations and actions based on real-life experiences. Pretend play is a way of expressing emotions. When children engage in dramatic play, they deepen their understanding of the contemporary world and tolerance of others’ feelings while improving oral communication as they practice verbal and nonverbal expression of ideas.

Basket Ball

Team sports such as basketball encourage cooperation, teamwork, and communication. Success in shooting, dribbling, or passing can significantly enhance self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment, while improving focus, concentration, and the ability to strategize during the game.

Field trips and excursions

To reinforce experiential and contextual learning, field trips are a means of enhancing classroom learning by establishing real-world connections.

FRUIT-FULL PROGRAM

Meritorious ELC offers ‘Fruit-Full Wednesday’ to instill healthy eating habits in our students. Students taste the healthy seasonal fruit or a vegetable during snack time, and teachers discuss the nutritional facts about that fruit. They can take the treat of any fruit or vegetable at home.

Science/Discovery and Math

Our STEAM Lab is a place for young learners to hone their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is a place to ignite curiosity and wonder using new materials. In the lab, children engage their senses to touch, feel, taste, smell, and explore the natural world around them. Teachers help cultivate children’s curiosity by involving them in simple experiments and posing questions. Children respond by utilizing their critical thinking skills to investigate and explore various concepts to enhance all areas of development.
